About

Here at the Elusive Ancestor Hunter, I believe that all walls will be broken down eventually. I have over 40 years experience in genealogy, yes, I did start the family history research  before the internet became popular and computers were just starting out.  What this means to you is that I have a vast experience in going that extra mile; courthouses, cemeteries, libraries are all very helpful and a needed part of finding those not so easy ancestors.  Not everything is online believe it not.  Sometimes, you may actually need to take a field trip or as I like to say “Going on an Ancestor Quest”.   Now, that is not to say I don’t use the internet.  I do and love to use any archive online that I can.

In Europe a few archives are online, you will just need the ability to translate languages and gothic handwriting at times, but it is doable. If you have ancestors in the countries I have listed below,I am totally willing to help you track them down.  I can either give you ideas on where you should go next in your research or do it for you.  I will track down your ancestors for you using all means possible.

My research specialties include United States research (with Michigan and Ohio repositories nearby), Canada, the British Isles, France, Germany, Italy, Alsace, Finland and Sweden.  I use many databases including: FamilySearch.org, Ancestry.com, Scotlandspeople.gov.uk,  the Alsace and French Archives, the Genealogical Society of Finland have a great site, the Swedish Church records are also online.  As a volunteer for the Family History Center in Adrian, Michigan, I can teach you to gain access to the ancestors that elude you.  Microfilm are no longer available for rent via the Family History Library, but via the internet while using the Family History Center you can gain access to many of the microfilms you would have to rented.

If you feel we can help you, please schedule a consultation and we can decide how best to fulfill your genealogy needs.  Remember – Time is Ancestors!

Hey! I have been researching my family tree history and you have mentioned my great great great grandfather on one of your pintrest posts tagged as a ‘shirt tail cousins’. The picture is definitely one I recognise from my family line. Would love to know if you actually are a super-distant cousin and where our family lines intersect.

    Best wishes 🙂
